Remember you don't have to read everything at once. Try to read difficult words many times out loud!

Dear parents,

the title says it all: head lice were found on 2E pupils during the weekend. Please pay attention if your child is scratching their head and check their hair and head for lice. The children have been advised to store their hats inside the sleeve of their coat. You can remind them about this.

kuten otsikko sanoo, 2E:ltä löydettiin täitä viikonlopun aikana. Kiinnittäkää huomiota jos lapsenne raapii päätään ja tarkastakaa vaikka varmuuden vuoksi hänen päänsä. Oppilaita on neuvottu säilyttämään pipot ja hatut takin hihan sisällä. Tästä voi vaikka muistuttaa vielä kotona.

Thursday's homework

Unfortunately, like I suspected earlier today, I got ill today and need to stay home tomorrow. Other teachers from our school will take over tomorrow. Therefore, the fun lesson will be moved for next Wednesday. You'll have regular ORT.

Ps. I know some of you love dogs and some of you don't, I just want to share this video because it made me happy today.

Hello!

Remember that tomorrow we'll go to the dance theatre to see Ronja Ryövärintytär. School is from 9 to 13 for everyone! We will still have a bit of Math and a bit of Finnish tomorrow.
Since we go to lunch after the theatre, everybody can take a small snack with them that they can eat before we leave.

We have now 10 green days, and as promised, the children will get a "fun lesson" for this. It was supposed to be tomorrow, but due to bad behaviour and bad attitudes today at P.E. it was cancelled.

Instead we moved it for Friday, a nice way to end the week. This means that the children can take toys with them, play board games, play (age appropriate) computer games or watch (age appropriate) youtube-videos. Group A and B will have their separate lessons.

Homework:

English - green words 1 (read say cover write 3 times). Write sentences with green words in them and please show them at home.

Next Wednesday "Ronja Ryövärintytär" dance show, school 9-13 for everyone!

Dear parents and pupils,

we got the chance to go and see the "Ronja Ryövärintytär" dance show next Wednesday, the 25th of September. We will take the bus to the theatre Mobita Dansko at 11 and then return together to school for lunch with the other 2nd graders.

Therefore everybody's school day is from 9 to 13.

If you want to, you can take a small snack to eat before going to the theatre.

Please contact me if there are any issues with this.

Friday's (no) homework!

English - No homework other than the 'cuddle up and read' books.

Math - We did a formative test. No homework.

E.S. - we wen't to Sorsapuisto to collect leaves (maple, linden/tilia, oak, birch). No homework.


So it turns out Friday the 13th wasn't that bad :)

Please note! The RE-TAKE for the Red words 1 is next Monday. So if you got less than 8/10, keep practicing!

The scores for Red Words 2 will be posted in Helmi soon. Their retake will be exceptionally on Wednesday.

1. Write or draw 2 things, where/that you have done wrong. (For example "I have teased my little brother." Or a picture of a computer game you weren't allowed to play.)

2. Write or draw a situation where you have said "I'm sorry!".

REMEMBER: tomorrow we will go out to the park in E.S. to study our environment. Remember  to take outdoor clothing! (If needed, you can also take an umberella.)

Spelling - Red Words 1, results in Helmi

Dear pupils and parents,

the results for Red Words 1 are in Helmi. Remember, 8/10 is required for passing. If you want to get a cool diploma, but haven't got 10/10 you can retake the test anyways next Monday!

IMPORTANT: About Spelling Tests

Dear everyone,

usually on Thursdays we have a spelling test.

For the first couple of Months we will go through the so called 'Magic 100 words', which are words that make up to 1/3 of all written English.

Approximately 80% of the words need to be spelled correctly to pass the test. For example 8/10 or 10/12 are the requirements. If the score is e.g. 7/12, there needs to be a retake. The scores will usually be posted in Helmi.

I will be quite strict with the basic spelling. The words will need to be spelled entirely correctly. For example, the first test included the word 'I'. It is the most basic rule that only the capital 'I' is acceptable in written English - therefore I will not accept 'i' as an answer.

Retakes are organised every Monday.

To practice spelling, it is important to read, say and write the words.

Lyhyesti suomeksi:

Torstaisin meillä on Spelling test. Spelling testeihin harjoittelu on äärimmäisen tärkeää sekä suullisesti että kirjallisesti. Opeteltavat sanat muodostavat 1/3 kaikesta kirjoitetusta englannista,

Testissä n. 80% sanoista on oltava oikein läpipääsyyn. Esim. 8/10 tai 10/12 ovat pistevaatimuksia. Eli jos pisteet ovat esim. 7/12, täytyy testi uusia. Pyrin laittamaan pisteet aina Helmeen.

Tulen olemaan hyvin tarkka testeissä. Jos sanassa on yksikin kirjain väärin, pistettä ei saa. Esimerkiksi ensimmäisessä testissä oli sana minä - 'I'. Kirjoitettuun englantiin kuuluu erittäin olennaisesti, että 'I' on aina isolla. Joten en voi hyväksyä pienellä kirjoitettua 'I' -sanaa.

Uusinnat järjestetään maanantaisin.
